Physical Education
Al-Manarat Heights is very proud to have initiated a didactic sports program that is rooted in providing students fitness, the essential skills to excel at soccer and basketball, and to learn other life skills.
Some scholars have opined that for a Muslim, everything in life is didactic (a teaching tool). Athletics and physical fitness are essential for many reason: they allow us to connect with others, they are a means of fitness that brings about contentment and good health, they are a good means to develop soft skills like team work, dedication, persistence, etc. and most importantly, they are a means to be able to worship Allah with full energy and with our physical faculties intact.
Islam is a holistic way of life and therefore it is all about harmony and balance. The prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم has also informed us that ‘The most beloved deeds to Allah are the ones that are consistent, even if they be small’. To this effect, Aristotle is famously known to have said that ‘we are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act, it’s a habit’. Habitual fitness is essential in our time and age and therefore having a program that caters to the physical needs of the students is very important to us.
Students have professionally adapted coaching sessions twice a month during which they go through fitness and skills training. Our goal is that they excel in these sports and are able to pick up expertise in the different components of these sports that will suffice them their entire lives, especially when they go on to High-School and want to enrol in extra curricular sports ventures.
